Movember

Thank you to all of the chefs at Whatley Manor who are growing some pretty crazy moustaches till 3rd December and using all of the proceeds from that to fund my trip. So I'm very grateful to all of them for doing that, hopefully we'll get some photos up soon!

If you'd like to sponsor them its easy as anything, just click on donate below.

Cheers!

An introduction

Hello, welcome, I'm Emily and I have made this thingy to be able to share everything about my trip to Peru and Bolivia in January, so y'all know what's going on and also especially at the moment to do as much fundraising as possible!

Here's the plan, if you are interested in what I will be up to...

I'm flying to La Paz, Bolivia on 24th January 2013.

For 2 months from 1st February I will be volunteering in Proyecto Horizonte, near Cochabamba in Bolivia. They run health, education and local development programmes in the Ushpa-Ushpa community, and I will be given a specific role upon arrival, based on my abilities and where they need me most. So that could be anything from looking after children, teaching english, even doing administrative or marketing work.
This is their website: http://www.ushpa-ushpa.com/english/index.php

Then from the 5th April I am volunteering at Intiwawa for one month, quite a similar organisation who provide a range of services to poor communities in and around Arequipa in the south of Peru. Similarly to Proyecto Horizonte, I could be working in any of their projects; english classes, computer classes, nutrition, daycare, and also just spending time just having fun with local children.
Their website is: http://www.intiwawa.org/

Then during May I am going to travel round Peru with my friend Beth Watson until 11th June. We've planned to visit lake Titicaca, Cusco, and Machu Pichu amongst others, as well as spending a few days in Lima.
Beth is going home on 11th June, and after that I have got 3 weeks with nothing planned yet, but I expect I will either go back and work with Intiwawa or work in one of the many small orphanages in Peru where help is also needed desperately.

Then I'm flying back on 3rd July!

Monies

Overall the trip is going to cost £4000. This covers flights, travel insurance, injections, accommodation, food & water, travel mostly by coach between destinations, and small donations to the organisations.
I am working as a waitress at Whatley Manor until January to fund the trip, but I am still short of round about £1500.
In order to raise this money I have done a couple of fundraising events whilst at college, I will be organising some 'bag-packs' in supermarkets around Christmas time and am very grateful for donations from friends and family.
I am also very grateful to all of the chefs at Whatley who are taking part in Movember in order to raise money for my cause.
If I haven't managed to make ends meet by January, I will be shaving all of my hair off for sponsorship.........

If you would like to donate money in order to help fund this trip, you can do so by clicking on the donate button below and your money will go straight into my account and directly towards the trip.
Even if it's just a couple of quid, a little really does go very far; just a fiver would pay for my accommodation and food for one day in which I will be helping countless others.

Thanks for readin!
